Little Strokes of Genius under the direction of Diane Capasso has been offering art classes at my school for 15 years. This art program has been amazing enrichment for our students and a constant favorite at our school. Diane is not only an amazing art teacher for young students, she is a masterful art curriculum designer. I am impressed with the amazing variety of her projects, keeping everything new, interesting and educational for so many years.

"As the Administrator of a Montessori school for several years, I’ve realized that “art” in the child’s every day experience matters as the way breathing and language matters. Diane Capasso has a real passion for providing an art experience that not only exposes children to masterpiece art but allows the process of creating -- exploring, discovering, and experimenting -- that has the greatest value. Through self-expression and creativity, children's skills will develop naturally, and their ability to create will soar. The earliest art experiences will allow children uninhibited self-expression, as well as, developing important skills that benefit their development."
It is with pleasure that I give your art program the encouraging endorsement that is deserves! I have never found a program that I like better than the art program you provide, as a parent or as the school director. The art that the children produce is priceless! The mediums that you have the children work with are incredible and the kids LOVE it! I have my son enrolled in your art program and I even have some of the art he has created in the class framed and hanging in my Family Room! The class does not produce "cookie cutter" art projects. You can tell that the children have been introduced to a new concept and the art they produce has really been done by their hands! I only have positive things to say about your program! Thank you for the opportunity to provide some positive feedback!
Sincerely,
Jennifer Fredrick-Director of Mundelein Montessori School
"...I can’t begin to tell you how pleased I am to have Diane at our school. You will find her gentle manner, professionalism, her profound love and gift for art, and her bright smile all qualities your children will reap the benefits from for years to come....."
Our school has partnered with LSOG for numerous special projects in addition to Ms. Capasso’s regular afternoon art lessons throughout the school year and our Summer Camp! We have painted the fire hydrant at the corner of our school’s intersection, we have made stained glass mosaic for our front windows, and we have created a beautiful Monet inspired mural that beautifully welcomes everyone into our school! Even our infant and toddler students have made their own Jackson Pollack inspired art to decorate their classroom. LSOG is fantastic to work with! We have also had Ms. Capasso give her Teacher Art Workshop to our entire staff at one of our Professional Development days. She helped our teachers view our art areas in a refreshing new light and provided us with hands-on tools to revive our art curriculum. Ms. Capasso’s enthusiastically shares her passion for art with our students.
Feedback about LSOG from our students:
SD – Painting is my favorite thing! We paint and it’s fun!
JB – My favorite part is using paint brushes to make shapes. Ms. Capasso is really nice!
MB – In art we make fruit pictures.
OO – There are interesting things like pictures, like paint and pastels. We get to learn new things like hot colors and cold colors.
C? – Art is fun! It’s fun because I like painting different things. We mixed colors to make new ones, like blue and red make purple.
CA – We use art tools which is fun, like brushes, oil pastels, and dry pastels.
RK – Ms. Capasso and Ms. Black are so fun!
“The children have experienced working with various media, such as oil pastels, ink, tempera paints and liquid water colors. They have learned how to title their art work and about different artists. Each lesson is presented in steps, so the children can enjoy the process and the final product.”
A four year old LSOG student once said, "when you work with oil pastels, you need to press hard to get the color".
“She offers a full range of curriculum with a spanning overview of artists, artist styles and eras. In addition to teaching numerous medium and tool applications, this class also provides students with an in-depth knowledge of color theory--all presented on a level at which a 3-to-6-year-old can easily grasp.”
When I tell the children, “Today is Wednesday, we have our art lesson this afternoon. The children always respond, "I love art lesson!"
"Dear Mrs. Capasso, I have learned a lot in art this year and have had fun. My favorite project was the weaving one. Thanks Katie"
"I just wanted to thank you for providing my daughter with a great opportunity to enjoy and learn
about art. She loved your class and looked forward to a new experience each week. Your
program is so unique. I can only hope she will have an opportunity like this at her new school.
(wishful thinking) I wish you much success in the future...."
Diane:
A member of our family has been in your "Little Strokes of Genius" art class this year. She is learning so
much and her art work is amazing -- in frames, her creations look fantastic. Giving the artwork a name
each week is special, too. She was so proud to give us a photo album of her art at Christmas -- what a treasure for us.
Thank you
